China has great street food -- delicious tofus bubbling in spicy sauces, grilled squid on a stick, steamed buns filled with pork and vegetables, and on and on. Occassionally you would see a hotdog on a stick, grilled, and served with chili powder on the site. One of my favorite street snacks was corn on the cob. On almost any street that had vendors, you would find corn on the stick. This one in fancy, as its in the touristy area of Shanghai. But sometimes you would find it boiled and carted around, pot and all, on the back of a bicycle. Or sometimes you would see it boiled in a pot on an open flame built in an old oil drum. Occasionally, you'd see them sold from a dirty plastic bag, still steaming hot.

We eat high fructose corn syrup based snacks here in America. They eat corn on the cob. No wonder obesity is not as issue in China.
